The Aralam Farm and Wildlife Sanctuary is evergreen and deciduous forest area spanning 55 sq. kms on the slope of the Western Ghats. The Aralam Sanctuary is home to a wide array of flora and fauna, the only wildlife sanctuary in Kannur district, and the best spot for eco-tourism lovers.

History says that this was the area where Pazhassi Raja went into exile during the war with the British but not much of it is known today. In 1971 CE, the Government of India built a farm in the Wildlife Sanctuary, which is one of a kind in India.

Day trekking programmes are a staple here, although visitors have options for three-day trekking programmes to Ambalappara and Meenmutty waterfalls, which need prior permission from the Forest Department, and is depended on various other factors too.
